Weatherizing your Home is Easy with NOLA Wise!

Funded by the Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Program, NOLA Wise provides services help homeowners save up to 30% on their utility bills. We provide a professional and thorough home energy assessment, quality work from vetted contractors, as well as access to incentives and loans to pay for the retrofit.

Global Green USA, an environmental nonprofit organization, manages the program in New Orleans in partnership with the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance and the City of New Orleans. With NOLA Wise, homeowners can reduce their utility use and their impact on the environment. In addition to feeling safer, healthier, and more comfortable, households can save on monthly bills - always a plus in this economy! The program’s goal is to provide a turn-key service (one-stop-shop) for the weatherization of New Orleans homes. NOLA Wise connects families with professionals who will get the job done right.

A nationally-certified NOLA Wise energy assessor will perform an initial inspection of each home, citing specific areas of energy loss. Homeowners will receive a customized list of recommendations that might include changing out light bulbs to compact florescent (which put off less heat, more light, and use less energy than regular light bulbs), changing the air filters and sealing holes to allow the home's heating and cooling units to work more effectively, replacing and sealing ducts, or installing additional insulation.

We help homeowners obtain financing and access incentives through Entergy’s EnergySmart program and other available credits and rebates and provide access to loans through Fidelity Homestead Savings Bank to make the upgrade more affordable.

Only Building Performance Institute (BPI) trained contractors are permitted to participate in the NOLA Wise program due to the rigorous green building standards this curriculum enforces. Green Coast Enterprises provides quality control over each job to ensure that the desired energy savings are achieved.
